When Sam and Sandy retired in 2002, they sold their life-long home in the San Francisco Bay area, bought a motor home and enjoyed traveling the US for three years. When they stopped in Shady Cove to spend some time by the Rogue River they fell in love with the area. They purchased a modest home in Shady Cove to call their "home base" while still traveling. When the fuel cost increased drastically they decided they would have to give up their travels for awhile. Sandy didn't want to stay home and watch the rain all winter and because of her love for animals she approached Sam with the idea of opening a pet wash to keep her busy. Sam agreed to the idea, although he certainly didn't realize what work he was in for!

Together along with help from friends and family, they spent over two months converting a large old, very dirty building into a beautiful clean, bright, happy environment. Original artwork of cartoon celebrities Scooby Doo, Huckleberry Hound, Augie Doggie, Pluto, Snoopy, Lady & the Tramp and the Cheshire Cat, painted by Sheryl Swift of Wimer are hanging on the red and gold walls. Cookies in different shapes and sizes, some with carob coating, fill the full-size bakery case. Some among the selection includes peanut butter, banana biscotti, ginger snaps, cheese and garlic and pinwheels. Often we hear the remark that they look like people cookies - and in fact, we know of those who have tried a nibble or two for themselves!!!
